Week 16 Recap: Icing on the Donut Cake

Week 16 is over and we say farewell to four more teams. Let’s get started for this Christmas Eve special write-up.

We’ll begin by describing Pay Day Gray’s ultimate downfall by the hand of the surprise of the season #3 seed, Riley Read Option. Gray has been on a John Wick-esque rampage of unimaginable proportions, taking opponents out with precision and dripping satisfaction. Riley Read has mounted a consistent offensive ramp, selecting explosive player after blow-up performance. This week, Jonathan Taylor holds the belt for nuclear annihilation. Taylor rushed for 218 yards plus three scores for an Earth-quaking 39.8 points in our league. To add to this, only his tight end play of Hockenson tallied for less than 10. Brandon Aubrey, in particular, lit up the air, kicking aces for the hopeless Cowboys. Pay Day Gray simply couldn’t keep up. I’d lay blame somewhere between Marvin Harrison Jr.’s continued lackluster performance and the Buccaneers managing a single point against those hopeless Cowboys. Alas, Pay Day Gray’s season is over and his Watch is Ended.

We now pop over to Tyrannosaurs in F-14s and their demise against the master, Freakofnature. T-rex14 had a fighting chance to make it to the semis with a Monday Night play of Jayden Reed. But that game became Josh Jacobs’ game to dominate, leaving a ~5-point gap between winner and loser. Three positions were entirely neutralized in this matchup, while several other spots were near matches. Jared Goff even doubled Rodger’s enigmatic score of 12.84 points. Thus, the game truly came down to the difference between Reed and Deebo. The 49ers and fantasy managers alike have been nothing shy of dumbfounded by Deebo’s performances throughout the season, making this 25-point pop-up all the more inspired and surprising. Freak now has a chance to topple his amigo Alan AKA Endzone. And for the time being, sayonara to Matt and the F-14s. See ya next year.

Anthony’s Richer Son takes his bow this week too. Against the unlikely post-season juggernaut, yourkillinmewillis, Clay got smacked by a solid 30-points. Luke didn’t win by any positional outpacing, as much as he won in the margins. Lamb outscored Collins by four; White notched three more points than Dowdle. The two largest margins of victory were in the bookending positions of QB & defense. Those two points were the victory defining 20-points that sealed Clay’s position on the naughty list. Welcome to the semi, Luke. It’s weird to say but you deserve to be here. Clay, congrats on a season-leading point tally and a bonafide spot as a Big League threat.

We end the write-up with the self-appointed G.O.A.T’s final defeat this season. Jake may have won the first year’s trophy but his winning is over now. Jake had the crushing decision to roster Jalen Hurts. Hurts lived up to his name by suffering a concussion in the first quarter. His 4.54 points would not be enough to buoy Jalen to an overall victory. But it did help him get to a shockingly high 168 points and a lead on Endzone Jones before MNF. All Jake needed was for Brandon Mc-Ma-Anus to not score seven points. With each touchdown, this disparity whittled down. I don’t need to write the suspense. You know the score. Despite the powerhouses of Bijan, JJ, and Achane, Alan matched him with Jonathan Taylor, James Conner, and JJ, himself. The pumpkin for Jake’s Cinderella story just ran off a bridge and is over.

Good luck, everyone! Games start tomorrow.

Peace and Happy Holidays.
