Your weekly recap is coming a full day late. Apologies, but no regrets. Your steadfast Commissioner has been hard at work on other interesting projects. But, loyal readers know I try to reflect on the week if I have time.
Highest Scorer: Tyrannosaurs in F-14s (146.6 points)
Matt’s highest scoring team doesn’t have some neat gimmick or a ridiculous outlier. Rather, Tyrannosaurs built this score through consistency and grit. Only Keenan Allen and the Chargers D scored sub 10 points, while the rest of his team recorded touchdown after touchdown. The most interesting thing about this score is that it was so contested! Boswell put up a mighty fight, trailing by only 10 points. It was a slugfest that was decided with a George Pickens no-touchdown.
Biggest Blowout: Drew Crew vs Krusty Krab Pizzas (68.94 points)
The Bermuda Triangle. Amelia Earheart’s final resting spot. Who shot Kennedy. What is Arby’s. None of these mysteries are unsolvable as what Rob is doing with Krusty Krab Pizzas. If Rob was a manager of a real sports team, he’d be shot. Point blank. This is active malpractice. Despite stumbling backwards into the highest scoring QB and an elite performance from Kittle, the Pizzas delivered four 0.0 point totals in completely avoidable fashion. Not for nothing, Drew Crew wasn’t asking for handouts. His roster would’ve beat everyone but the aforementioned T-Rexes.
Closest Call: Sidney Deane School of Street Smarts vs Puck the Fackers (0.88 points)
While there are no neutralized selections among the rosters, it’s clear to see how this matchup was decided within one point. Nix & Hurts balled out. Both RB corps scored ~30. Otton and Pitts were exceptional. And the kicker/ defense combos were within a point of each other. Even Rome Odunze and Waddle scored within a decimal point of each other. Thus, it came down to Tyler Lockett’s 1.9 points. In the Seahawks loss to the Bills, Lockett hauled in one of three targets for just nine yards. Simply won’t get it done. If he had done literally anything else, Sidney Deane would look like they had a lot more street smarts than they do now.
Best Find: Ladd McConkey (29.1 points)
Big one from the rookie.
Biggest Bust: Rico Dowdle (0 points)
Not so much as a cookie.
